See why his Texas Republican woman is voting for Wendy Davis and Democrats this year

August 25, 2014 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Any Republican woman or man not voting Democratic in Texas this year does not get it

A dear friend sent me this video this morning. It is a Texas Republican woman who said she is voting for Wendy Davis and other Democratic candidate. The video claims that it is not sanctioned by the Wendy Davis campaign or any other Democratic organization. Judging from the quality of the video I tend to believe that.

That said there is ample reasons for every Texas Republican woman and man to forego their Party’s candidates. Republicans have been in absolute power in Texas for decades. They have not used that power wisely.

They have cut school funding by over $5 billion even as they have continued to give tax breaks to corporations on the order of $19 Billion a year. That is a transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich. That is mortgaging the future of the states as our citizens become less equipped educationally over subsequent decades. Sadly, the result of this poor, selfish, and inept leadership does not show up immediately. The problems caused by underfunded elementary, middle, high school, and colleges take decades to show up and decades to fix if left unabated.

One should not forget that Republicans in Texas have progressively taken away the rights of women by forcing the invasion of their bodies with sonograms. They have curtailed women’s right to reproductive care and the control of their own bodies.

Republicans have not been kind to democracy. They passed new laws to restrict voter participation, implicit admission that Texans do not want what they have to offer. Texas Republicans were given a pass by a corrupt Supreme Court to proceed. They have even found a way to deny many women the right to vote.

Texas has over one million of its residents uninsured even with the advent of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Yet Texas Republicans refuse to accept the Medicare Expansion to the Affordable care act. Acceptance would insure those Texans, provide badly needed healthcare to women, children, and men. It would increase employment as more medical personnel would be needed to handle the influx of new patients. It would increase Texas’ economic activity as more federal dollars circulate in our economy.

It is fiscally irresponsible for Texas to not take it. The first three years cost Texas zero dollars. Subsequently Texas is only responsible for 10% of the cost.

Republican ideology is killing Republican and Democratic Texans. This is not conjecture, it is a fact. The Republican woman above is correct. One does not need to change their Party affiliation to do the right thing for themselves, their family, their city, their state, and their country. This year the answer is simple. As Republicans falter, Democrats will be the grownups in the room.
