This week’s show

Paul Ryan’s attack on inner city poor affects us all

imageA few days ago Paul Ryan allowed his deeper thoughts to escape his mouth. He believes poverty is an inner city problem. Worse, he thinks it is caused by culture.

Why is this important? It is important not only because of false negative racial overtones. It is important because it misses the vast majority of the poor and the poor in waiting. That demographic should give him pause. It looks nothing like the inner city.

Using dog whistles to maintain power has a breaking point. Ultimately politicians that express policies that level the playing feel and give all access to success will win. We must make this sooner rather than later.

Give me a call. Let’s talk.

They should change the name of the Republican party to what it is – White Supremacist party. What is Ryan saying – it’s cultural therefore we should ignore it? We should not give aid to black communities because they are inferior? Yes, urban blacks have distinct cultural elements, different from white suburban. Don’t argue about culture – question Ryan’s ignominious conclusions.
